ABOUT.

Lawrence Hawkins (he/him) is a young trans multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, performer and actor from Naarm (Melbourne).

He is passionate about telling emotionally driven stories through music and performance, working across stage, screen, and concert settings.

With a distinct sound that blends orchestral, electronic, and acoustic indie styles, Lawrence is quickly emerging as a dynamic force in the Australian performing arts scene.
Lawrence is currently completing a Bachelor of Music Industry (Major in Composition) at Box Hill Institute after starting out at Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, and has already developed a strong compositional portfolio. His screen composition work includes numerous short film scores, including Kiss For Me, which has received nominations at several international film festivals. He also works with a range of pop/indie artists, as both a co-writer or a session guitarist. Lawrence’s music work spans across many different mediums that are unified by a desire to create authentic, emotionally resonant experiences.


As an actor, Lawrence has worked extensively in professional theatre, performing at leading venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne Arts Centre and Hayes Theatre Co. Most notably, he covered the lead roles of Evan Hansen and Connor Murphy in the Australian premiere of Dear Evan Hansen (Sydney Theatre Company / Michael Cassel Group). In 2024, he appeared as Laurie in Little Women (JRP / Hayes Theatre Co.), and toured nationally in the Australian production of RENT (LPD Productions), and later reprised his role in the 2025 season at the Sydney Opera House (Opera Australia/LPD Productions).

His also has a growing experience acting for screen, with credits including Leo in Situationship (CIMP Entertainment / STUDIO47), Young Portman in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova (Warner bros./Legendary Studios), and Theo Kaloudis in Neighbours (Amazon Studios / Network 10 / Paramount+).


Whether in the studio, on stage, or in front of the camera, Lawrence is driven by a passion for crafting meaningful work and building lasting artistic relationships. With a growing list of credits and a clear artistic vision, he is well-positioned to become a distinctive voice in both the Australian and international creative industries.
